Job Title: Product Manager: Lab products and Gas Sensing products

Client: Techcomp Europe

Location: Livingston, Edinburgh

Techcomp Europe (TEU) is part of the Hong Kong headquartered global Techcomp Instrument Ltd (TIL) Group, which consists of a group of scientific instrument manufacturing businesses. TEU has offices and production sites in multiple European countries and are now looking to hire a Product Manager to cover their ULT Freezers (Froilabo, France), Analytical Balances (Precisa, Switzerland) and Gas Sensors (Edinburgh Sensors, Scotland) businesses.

The role will be based at TEU headquarters in Livingston, Scotland with the expectation of travelling to mainland Europe to visit group companies when required.

 

Job Outline

Responsibilities will include:

  • taking overall responsibility for the success of your product(s)
  • contributing towards product strategy and vision
  • meeting regularly with all stakeholders, including product developers, marketing, customer service, finance and company heads
  • creating and overseeing development and project management processes
  • collecting, analysing and responding to user feedback
  • managing one or more budgets
  • gathering and evaluating ideas and opinions
  • planning new features and changes to a product
  • demonstrating new ideas and features to stakeholders
  • creating timelines and roadmaps for developing the product and launching the product
  • attending conferences and events related to a product or sector
  • implementing or supporting marketing campaigns
  • inspiring and enthusing colleagues and users of the product
  • learning about users and products markets
  • researching competitors and similar products

In addition, the role may involve giving presentations at user seminars, workshops and conferences throughout the world as well as attending relevant exhibitions and so the ability to present ideas and information accurately in a clear and concise manner is critical.

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Scientific degree (chemistry, biochemistry, physics or similar), ideally a higher degree such as an MSc/PhD would be preferable but not essential. Candidates who do not have formal qualifications but can demonstrate relevant work experience will also be considered
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment
  • Good writing skills
  • The ability to communicate in either French or German would be advantageous
  • The candidate must possess a valid UK work permit and / or EU residency qualification

  • Highly driven and motivated individual with a track record of achievement
  • Being comfortable to work cross-culturally
  • Enthusiasm, confidence and professionalism with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and negotiate are an important part of this role
  • Responsiveness and focus, combined with attention to detail are essential
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as part of a team
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines with proven analytical and numerical skills
  • Flexibility to travel nationally and internationally with a full valid driving licence and valid passport
  • Capability to provide simple solutions to technical problems and based on customer requirements
